Changeup (Straight-Change):
The changeup is a classic "off-speed" pitch that is designed to fool batters by appearing like a fastball at first, only to arrive at the plate 10-12 mph slower. A good changeup is thrown with the same exact delivery and arm motion as a fastball, but the grip needs to be changed to take velocity off of the ball. The classic or "straight-change" version of this pitch is gripped similarly to a four-seam fastball, but with three fingers (index, middle, and ring-finger) instead of just two. The key to throwing the straight-change is to hold the Blitzball deeper in your palm than any of the fastballs to help deaden the ball's velocity as you throw it. Once you have the changeup grip, throw the Blitzball exactly the same way that you would a fastball, and the ball will naturally leave your hand slower than it appears to the batter.
